August 13-19, 2023

This week imbues us with an inner strength to shed the withering skin of our past so our lovelight can shine brighter than it ever has before. Wednesday’s New Moon in Leo promises a bold and courageous flourishing of our identity, if not only for ourselves. While the stumbling over remnants of our past indecisions have slowed our roll, we are developing greater conviction and determination to see our individuality and visions emerge from the deep. The latter half of the week can bring ample refinement of our lives in order to thrive unfettered by chaos and escapism.

Sun conjunct Venus in Leo

Moon in Cancer square Chiron in Aries

Moon in Cancer sextile Mars in Virgo and Uranus in Taurus

Today permeates us with an inner strength to live and love with greater passion and pride so that we can inspire others to do the same. When Sun and Venus join in Leo, there is an extraordinary amplification of these qualities related to the heart. How do we love? How do we forgive? How do we inspire kindness and a willingness to cultivate compassion towards others? For some, this can be challenging, which is why it is so imperative to spread simple acts of kindness, forgiveness, and compassion wherever we go.

Sprinkled into today’s stew are reminders of our own personal struggles over the years and how we fought through them to become the understanding and helpful people we are today. Always with us in our quest to make the world a better place are the experiences that seemed to thwart that quest. So how can we transmute those incursions into excursions of hope and redemption that can inspire even the most pained of our friends and loved ones? Today allows us to polish and cleanse the lens through which we perceive the world around us so we can make good choices moving forward.

Moon in Cancer opposite Pluto in Capricorn

Venus in Leo trine Chiron in Aries

While we awaken to the fading effects of the Moon-Pluto opposition, which typically brings some emotional grit to our ideally silky vibes, today’s voyage seems to carry forward yesterday’s transmutation of our past traumas into healing inspiration, but today this alchemy lines up more specifically with partners and close loved ones. There can be a sort of consolation element weaving in and out of the otherwise normalcy of the day. Who needs to be consoled? Do we need someone to console us? Are we willing to reach out to someone we love to help us through?

These patterns and cycles of consoling and needing consoled are not foreign to us. Whether we are in a relationship or not, our lives are always ebbing and flowing between these experiences, which is why it is so critical to cultivate our capacity for compassion and understanding. Witnessing and trying to make sense of the plight of others as we walk our walk through life elevates our natural ability to nurture those in need of our love and kindness.

Moon conjunct Venus in Leo

Sun in Leo square Uranus in Taurus

The stage is ours to set and perform on today. While setting this stage might provoke some disapproval from others, hopefully we have what it takes to love who we are and what we do enough to express ourselves freely and openly, despite the naysayers. This can be a touchy process, however, because unchecked egos can clash at the slightest veering from familiarity. It may be that we are prepared to fully own our individuality, but this can jar the security of expectations inherent in others close to us. Bearing that in mind can help ensure we approach our confidence from our hearts.

The rebel inside us all is most certainly at play today in the vivacious fields of joy. But if we approach this natural instinct of rebellion selfishly and narcissistically, we are eliminating the opportunity to inspire sincere inclusion, community, and friendship. We must take stock of our values, our pride, and what and who we love in order to proceed as inspiring mentors of hope for humanity. Setting these sensitive and valuable attributes in order will help pave the way for a fruitful and intentional New Moon in Leo tomorrow morning.

*New Moon at 23° Leo at 5:38am EDT*

Mars in Virgo trine Uranus in Taurus

Mercury in Virgo inconjunct (150°) Chiron in Aries

Today’s New Moon is charged by simultaneous influences from Mars and Uranus, thus instilling a rebellious nature to an already bold rebirth of our individuality and excitement to live. This rebirth is more of an ongoing and recycling emergence of our identity and pride, helping to shed the skin that no longer fits who we have become. The immensity of today’s forces are primarily focused on our will to manage a unique and bold life experience that inspires independence and freedom to express ourselves as openly and unabashedly as possible.

The trap, however, is our pride. When we let go of caring what others think of our actions, we risk getting lost in a downward spiral of narcissism and isolation. When we channel the value of diversity and inclusion, we lift others up and inspire them to be as courageous as we hope ourselves to be. Therefore, our pride is best worn as a suit of armor that protects the virtuous wisdom of compassion, kindness, and acceptance we employ as we venture through all our relationships in life. This not only helps us manage our lives with more refinement, it helps purify the woes that may have beset our lives thus far.

Moon in Virgo opposite Saturn in Pisces

This morning’s Moon-Saturn opposition highlights the polarity of order and chaos in our lives. While constantly at play in all we seem to do, it is likely not very often we pause to contemplate this duality. And as Moon revolves around us so rapidly by comparison, our focus today is primarily on the incorporation of well thought out methods of life management. In other words, making good decisions for the betterment of ourselves and those affected by our choices.

With no other perfect aspects occurring today, we can really soak up the benevolence of Moon’s ramble through Virgo with an eye for whittling away the inconsequential and frivolous tendencies we implement on a regular basis. Moon may be reflecting our tendency to escape pertinent issues or circumstances in our lives, which thus creates more disarray and chaos to navigate. How can we undo the too many doings to make our lives more simple and serene?

Moon conjunct Mercury in Virgo

Moon in Virgo trine Uranus in Taurus

Moon conjunct Mars in Virgo

As our lives are so often, even if unconsciously, colored by the influence of Moon’s tenure through each sign of the zodiac, we may find we are thriving today in our cognitive ability to utilize what we know is best for us. In other words, we could very well be assessing all we have learned on this long, strange trip and practically applying that in ways that make life not just more manageable, but more enjoyable.

So often we unnecessarily stumble over the toys and debris from our past, impeding the efficiency of our journey forward. And while these impediments often teach us valuable lessons, if we learn how to recognize them for what they are ahead of time, we can tighten our ship and get on with what our true work is. Of course life tosses us curve balls and knuckle balls that confuse and confound our logical reasoning, but keeping a tight ship helps us be better prepared for those inevitables, thus allowing us to navigate through them with greater ease. Ultimately, we are working on ourselves today and taking right action where it should be taken.

Moon in Virgo opposite Neptune in Pisces and trine Pluto in Capricorn

Sun sextile and trine Moon’s South and North Node

Moon’s early morning aspects with Neptune and Pluto might invigorate our morning with some unconscious confusion and chaos, which may feel disheartening after yesterday’s endowment of order and refinement. But as time sweeps ever-onward, we should find some sensibility in our journey. We may see a stark contrast between where we have been and where we wish to go, or who we have been and who we wish to be.

We just might find ourselves in situations today that expose how the indecisiveness of our past is evolving into a future with greater conviction and fearlessness. Perhaps we are feeling more confident and prepared to face the feats that lie ahead. Or maybe we are taking more initiative to stand up for what we believe in and speak our truth. Whatever the case, our evolutionary journey can seem illuminated today, enabling us to truly see the precipice we stand upon for what it is.

When we stand tall in our convictions, proud to be who we are, we inspire others to do the same. And when that inspiration moves us all brightly toward a more benevolent future, the world slowly becomes a better place to share with each other. Hopefully this week helps us all emerge from the pains and chains that held us back for so long into a bright and beautiful individuating glory. It is never too late to awaken the latent quintessence of our soul.
